Job title: Purchasing Manager
Role type: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50 – £60 per annum
Our client is the shared service centre for the 8 business units within the UK. Their purchasing team manages the purchasing for those sites. Our client is looking to leverage the spend across these sites to reduce costs and improve service levels.
You will be responsible for the target purchasing strategies for their commodity/ies in the UK and for their implementation into the business units,
For reaching key performance indicators in terms of savings (Cost reduction), Customer satisfactions and suppliers performance (KPI: Savings, Customer satisfaction level, TPS coverage – Spend with approved TPS/Total spend, number of suppliers etc).
You will Manage activities: Manager the buyers under their responsibility (4-5 people), develop and support their team during RFQ/Contract negotiations, approve sourcing up to their authority, TPS Implementation, prioritise activities for the team and business areas , Purchasing activities: Marketing (To mobilise internal stakeholders, benchmark), liaise with Corporate Purchasing when relevant, build/roll out/ maintain Target Purchasing Strategies (TPS). You will manage “Internal Customer’ relationship, Engage with multiple stakeholders, communicate with top management of the customer, deliver savings and project implementation in conjunction with Customer priority (Sourcing/Purchase order on time). Supplier relationship management: Support/Lead top negotiations with suppliers, manage contract/supplier performance on high stakes contracts. You will ensure regular reporting on their scope is
available using internal tool(s), Innovations: Promote innovation (E-procurement..) challenge efficiencies & effectivness with alternate solutions and innovative methods to positively impact the business
Perform purchasing tenders and supplier selection committees, proactively manage projects. Forecast, report and deliver cost savings in accordance with process and procedure. Monitors supplier performance and contract execution at a strategic level. Interfaces with central Global Purchasing Commodity teams in the company. Continuously review market developments that affect individual commodity.
Travel specificity: Some UK travel will be required.
Essential skills & requirements
Demonstrable experience of working within Purchasing, ideally within indirect purchasing, proven experience as manager, a proven track record of the whole life cycle procurement, contract & relationship management. You will have to demonstrated ability to negotiate, construct and manage diverse and complex procurement contracts of significant value. you will need experience leading a multidisciplinary team, working with and influencing key stakeholders of all levels. You will need the ability to interact and adapt communication and style with personnel from all levels of company.
It will be beneficial to have previous experience within Aerospace &/Or Automotive industry, previous experience within a dynamic, responsive, fast paced team. It will be advantageous to have experience of working within a Shared Service Centre environment,
Education or above.
CIPS Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain or equivalent
PRINCE 2 is beneficial
LEAN Sigma Qualification is beneficial but not essential
Customer Service Qualifications would be beneficial
Analytical skills covering written, graphic, numerical & statistical information.
Intermediate proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
