Role: Development Engineer

Hours: 39pw (overtime T 1/2), 9 day fortnight
Location: Castle Bromwich, Birmingham
My client is a well-established bespoke automation company that designs, manufactures, and supplies a range of bespoke equipment and systems to a worldwide market. The Development engineer core interactions will be with the Shop Floor Manager, colleagues in the Machine Build and Electrical departments as well as Project Managers/Engineers and the Design Team.
As a Development Engineer, your role will focus on developing complex special purpose machines systems You will be a multi-skilled engineer with pneumatics, and mechanical knowledge, have the relevant qualifications and experience. This role would suit a advanced mechanical fitter.
Development Engineer Responsibilities.
- To adhere to the Quality Management System and associated policies, processes, and procedures.
- Mechanically assemble machinery to general arrangement drawings.
- Install and plumb pneumatic elements of machinery.
- Support electrical engineers with fitting of cable tray, feeding cables etc, where required.
- To work to communicated timeframes against project milestones.
- Participate in design reviews when requested to feedback thoughts and concerns to design prior to build.
- To raise any concerns regarding parts supply or specification with management and design.
- Take machines beyond the point of power on, through initial running and develop them into a fully functioning piece of production equipment in line with works order requirements.
- Suggest any potential modifications to machine construction to improve/achieve required performance.
- Detail any part modifications undertaken to feed back into the design change process.
- Attend customer site for installation, commissioning and/or service visits when required.
- Connect and set up of sensors and reed switches when required
Development Engineer experience:
- To raise nonconformity/improvement of the QMS to the Quality Manager.
- Minimum of 2 years experience of working with an ISO 9001 QMS, following the associated
- processes and procedures and compiling relevant documentation.
- Experienced in building special purpose machinery
- Pneumatics, mechanical experience
- Able to read drawings for bespoke machinery
- Must be a team player
- Excellent communication skills are a must
