WHAT TO EXPECT

The role is for a diagnostics lead that can define the diagnostics requirements of a system (e.g. Telematics) and a component (e.g. a Telematics ECU).
As part of the Connected Modules Group, and part of a squad focussing on the platform development of the next Telematics and Connectivity modules, the engineer will own and control the updates to the diagnostics documentation (Part 2) and the End of Line requirements for the Telematics systems.In addition, the engineer will support the system architecture and development teams to ensure the lessons learnt are applied to the current and future architectures.The lead diagnostics engineer will also support the plants for issues resolution and interact with the end of line equipment (VCATS) to agree the interfaces to the system

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Support the design, definition and implementation of the diagnostic features in connected modules ECUs: systems engineering artefacts and supplier management for implementation.
  • Facilitate and support the resolution of plant and diagnostics quality projects within prescribed timescales - plant and dealer interactions.
  • Define, document and release the End Of Line (EOL) requirements for the Telematics systems (current and future architectures).
  • Represent the "voice of the customer" for software download operation and interactions with the dealer tool.
  • Raise and manage plant "masks" where diagnostics function is not to specification (temporary or permanent deviations).
  • Responsibility for reporting out, in various forums within the business i.e launch reviews, Plant Quality Reviews.
  • Interacting with the Launch Team to ensure that current car issues are mitigated against on new vehicle launches, through the build phases up to the point of handover to current car teams
  • Leading resolution of Right First Time and First Time Through projects and other plant issues
  • Reflect lessons learnt for issues and update internal systems for future systems definition/improvements

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

  • Positive and self-sufficient working style - at home in teams or working alone
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and associated End of Line requirements
  • Experience of JLR diagnostics and Software download of complex ECUs (multi-components)
  • Strong problem solving skills, preferably with proven experience of Global 8D and/or 6 Sigma
  • Applicants must be highly motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and be able to build strong relationships and trust with team members.
  • Working as part of a squad and basic understanding of JLR agile approach
