Applications Manager
Location: Central Birmingham, with a 50/50 hybrid working split
Manage a senior technical team in an internationally recognized law firm with a strong global presence, that provides specialized legal services across various sectors. Managing projects from idea to implementation, collaborating with the leadership team, and contributing to the department's strategy. Collaborate with the Head of Enterprise Applications and other team managers to drive the department's strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and manage the performance of a team of 9, including developers, technical system and workflow administrators, and business analysts.
- Ensure continuous professional development for team members.
Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain day-to-day relationships and communications with stakeholders across the business.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Business Improvement teams to provide resources, manage conflicts, and support successful project delivery.
- Application Development and Management:
- Define, review, and communicate application development plans.
- Ensure security standards are applied, documented, and regularly reviewed for all owned applications.
- Design and test applications to support business continuity.
Technical Expertise:
- Lead and mentor a technical team.
- Demonstrate expertise in at least one of the following: Microsoft Power Apps, Automate, SharePoint, MS SQL Server, BPM/low code development environments, and Microsoft .NET development.
- Utilize experience in Cloud technologies, including MS Azure, Teams, and M365 (advantageous).
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain appropriate documentation of the application landscape.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Communication and Presentation:
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Present at all levels within the organization.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experienced software developer or team leader with technical experience in workflow, database, and Microsoft (Power platform) technologies.
- Demonstrable application and development management experience, including software procurement, development, and service delivery.
- Solid experience in the Microsoft development stack and DevOps practices.
- Experience with Cloud technologies, including MS Azure, Teams, and M365.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience in a regulated sector or professional services.
- Knowledge of document/content management technologies (eg, SharePoint, iManage).
- Experience with Open AI technologies.
