You'd be better off working for my client!My client are a regional contractor delivering new build housing often for Housing Associations in areas where these new homes can make a huge difference. They currently have a number of new build housing sites in the North West region, with a strong pipeline of work already confirmed for the coming 5 years. Such is their impressive growth plans they are looking to help develop Assistant Site Managers into qualified, successful and often award winning Site Managers, in their own right who will serve the business for years to come.

The Role

The role of Assistant Site Manager, reports to the resident, experienced Site Manager (and visiting Contracts Manager) and assists with the responsibility for managing all aspects of the housing development site, ensuring the provision of safe, efficient and cost effective works at all times, while maintaining the highest quality of work and customer service are delivered within the given timescales.

Your first site will be in on the outskirts of Blackburn in Lancashire for the coming 18 months with future projects to be in the wider Manchester region. The site in question is a mix of affordable houses & apartments for a mixture of open market rent, shared ownership & affordable rent aimed at over-55's.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand and comply with company policies and procedures and implement on site at all times
  • Assist with ensuring that Health and Safety procedures are strictly adhered to whilst keeping all required documentation up to date
  • Ensure all trades are working in accordance with trade specifications and to required quality standards
  • Work to agreed build programme, providing 4 week look ahead plans with weekly reviews and updates to achieve development completion target
  • Fully conform to building regulations and warranty providers requirements
  • Assist in the completion of property inspection records in order to provide sign off for completed works
  • Assist with the organisation of regular development production meetings to address site progress, programme and quality
  • Ensure stock levels are in accordance with build requirements including monitoring and recording deliveries of materials
  • Ensure site administration is carried out in accordance with company requirements including site inductions, H&S documentation, site meeting reports and all audit actions
  • Manage, motivate and support onsite staff, report any performance concerns to the Site Manager and ensure adequate cover is arranged when required
  • Represent the company in a professional manner at all times
  • Provide support and site cover on other developments when required

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Experience of working as an Assistant Site Manager with a residential house builder.
  • Experience of effectively managing teams
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety and building legislation.

Qualifications and Training

  • Valid CSCS card (or equivalent).
  • Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certificate
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • Construction Management - HNC Level 4, HND desirable
  • Valid Scaffold Appreciation certificate is desirable

Skills and Aptitude

  • Effective communication and listening skills
  • Good administration skills
  • Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
  • Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
