We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager, offering a chance to play a crucial role in managing the commercial aspects of significant construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all commercial activities of the project, providing support and advice to facilitate decision-making.
  • Maintain commercial records and ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Monitor contract progress, control costs against budgets, prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Prepare and agree necessary claims for reimbursements and for loss and expense.
  • Liaise with customers and third parties on all commercial matters.
  • Evaluate potential implications for dispute resolution and contribute to the development of quality, health & safety, welfare, and risk management systems.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and analyze costs for budgets.
  • Ensure subcontractors are pre-qualified according to management systems.
  • Procure subcontractors and prepare order documentation.
  • Assess and certify subcontractor interim payments, ensuring required notices are issued.
  • Advise on legal and contractual issues, and manage commercial risks.
  • Produce and present monthly Cost Value Reconciliation on projects.
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships.
  • Plan, allocate, and evaluate work carried out by teams, individuals, and self.
  • Assist in managing the commercial team and supervise and mentor Quantity Surveyors.
  • Ensure effective interaction between the commercial and operational site teams.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience at least a Senior Quantity Surveyor level or as a Project Quantity Surveyor seeking to advance their career.

Essential Criteria:
  • Degree Qualified in a relevant field.
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT & NEC Forms of Contract.
Experience:
  • Strong Commercial Awareness.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Used to a high-pressured environment
  • High levels of organisational skills.
  • Backround of delivering government projects would be preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent numerical, IT, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites as required.
