Reed Recruitment (Southampton office) are pleased to be recruiting for a Works Manager on behalf of our well established client based in Petersfield. Our client is a leading Arboricultural and Forestry Contractor, with 20 years of experience and expertise in the forestry sector. They have forged a strong industry reputation and they believe they have an unrivalled skill set and peerless knowledge of forestry work at all levels.
Clients include The Forestry Commission, The National Trust, Private Landowners including Royal Premises, and Network Rail.As an experienced Works Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Project Manager (Fencing) to successfully deliver Fencing projects that meet with, or better, their client's expectations.As a confident communicator, you'll proactively liaise with clients and internal colleagues to ensure smooth operations, monitor progress, and always provide an excellent service. By successfully managing work activities, materials, and site labour resources, you'll ensure that agreed projects are delivered on time, to budget and in compliance with internal quality standards and client requirements.
As an effective leader, you'll empower Site Supervisors to confidently carry out their duties and excel in their role. You will maintain project schedules so that projects stick to agreed timelines and will take effective corrective action to address any problems that are identified along the way.
About you You will have proven experience of working on fencings, vegetation or civil engineering projects and hold SMSTS (or equivalent) competencies. If trackside PTS is held this would be advantageous, but the company will happily provide this training once hired if required on certain jobs. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will enjoy building effective and productive working relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and colleagues alike. Being highly organised with logical problem-solving skills, you'll be able to plan the logistics needed to deliver works within agreed timescales. Ideally you will have an excellent understanding of Rail health, safety, and environment practices and of Network Rail requirements, and have previous experience of producing Safe Works Packs.
The role will require you to be a self-motivated team member who can work both independently and 'muck-in' as part of a team. You will take pride in your work, complete tasks to a high standard, in line with the company's ethos and values.
