Job Overview
You will join the Surveillance Systems and Bioinformatics Division to lead on a comprehensive, user-focused approach to data quality assessments, reporting and corrections.
You will deliver a roadmap of assessments that respond to immediate data quality concerns that arise upon receipt of Laboratory Data, while also building towards comprehensive, clear monitoring of all Data listed on our Data Dashboard.
You will ensure that the analysis of quality demonstrates whether the data supports organisational delivery, establishing the value that good quality data can bring to the organisation.
Working with others across the organisation you will embrace innovative approaches to deliver, help to embed good practice in other teams, and mature the organisation's approaches to data quality.
This role offers the opportunity to help provide assurance that our data is fit for operational and onward use.
Main Duties of the Job
- The postholder will be responsible for leading and managing processes that are needed for effective and targeted Data Quality management across Surveillance Systems and Bioinformatics, also ensuring work is established, implemented, maintained, and embedded across the Division.
- The postholder will be responsible for Data Quality Assessments including management of any anomalies and implementation of improvement plans.
- Lead the review of Data driven business continuity for Surveillance Systems and Bioinformatics, across its systems and processes.
- Active representation in wider Data Quality working groups ensuring the Division is aligned and our work programme is widely understood
- Lead and embed a strategic approach, planning and timely production of data quality dashboards across the Division
- Develop User Guidance and Principles for Laboratory Data use within the Surveillance Systems and Bioinformatics Laboratory Data and Systems
- Shaping and leading on designing data quality assessments that reflect the varying needs of data owners and users.
- Finding innovative ways to assess and communicate data quality, considering conflicting priorities and expectations of quality.
- Building strong relationships across the organisation to understand assessment needs and engage relevant stakeholders, such as data owners, data managers, data architects, data engineers, and data users, in resolving quality issues.
- Supporting on prioritisation of emerging data quality needs across Surveillance Systems and Bioinformatics, to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Working with the Surveillance Data Lead to establish a roadmap of data quality work.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working within a data driven environment
- Experience applying Quality controls to a project or piece of work
- Strong understanding of Data Quality Principles and Frameworks
- Experience and Ability to analyse problems and set out remediation plans to stabilise, enhance or transform processes and/or ways of working
- Significant experience in shaping analysis to meet differing user needs
- Experience of assessing and communicating the quality of data
- Communicating data and concepts to a wide range of audiences, including senior staff
- Significant experience of working with stakeholders with differing levels of technical expertise
- Experience of leading improvements in data analysis
