Position Overview: As a Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the design phase of wastewater projects across the Midlands region. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will oversee the development of innovative design solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and client requirements. You will be responsible for coordinating design activities, managing resources effectively, and fostering collaboration to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design phase of wastewater projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Coordinate design activities, including conceptualisation, feasibility studies, and design development, ensuring alignment with project objectives and client expectations.
- Manage a team of design engineers and specialists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to facilitate professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors, to ensure project requirements are met and regulatory compliance is maintained.
- Oversee the preparation of design deliverables, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to project schedules.
- Conduct design reviews, identify technical challenges, and implement effective solutions to mitigate risks and optimize project performance.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in wastewater treatment and conveyance systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in managing the design of wastewater projects.
- Strong technical expertise in wastewater engineering principles, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely to diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) is highly desirable.
