We are working closely with a well-established medium-sized main contractor based in London that is after a design manager to join the team to work specifically on heritage projects. With a strong focus on preserving and enhancing historic structures, they take pride in delivering high-quality construction services. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a talented and experienced Design Manager to join their team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management:
- Lead and manage the design process for heritage projects from post-tender through to completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams, architects, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Listed Buildings Expertise:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of working with listed buildings and Grade II structures.
- Navigate and comply with regulatory requirements related to heritage projects.

Team Coordination:
- Effectively communicate design concepts and requirements to the project team.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to align design goals with construction objectives.

Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate design-related risks throughout the construction process.
- Implement proactive measures to address potential challenges.

Quality Assurance:
- Oversee the design to ensure it meets the specified standards and aligns with heritage preservation guidelines.
- Conduct regular design reviews to uphold quality and compliance.

Client Engagement:
- Engage with clients to understand their vision and requirements for heritage projects.
- Provide design solutions that meet client expectations while adhering to heritage preservation principles.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in working on listed buildings and Grade II structures.
- In-depth knowledge of the heritage project construction process from post-tender through to completion.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and preservation guidelines for heritage projects.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet project demands.
- Relevant qualifications in design or construction management.
