This Engineering Environments (E2) Manager role creates the opportunity for an individual to enhance and improve Process, Practices and Tools (PP&T) across the entire Flight Avionics (FLX) Engineering function in accordance As the Engineering Environment Manager within FLX Engineering, you will have the responsibility for managing the deployment of Process, Practises and Tools across all three engineering departments (Systems, Software and Hardware), and manage the relationship between Engineering and Information Systems (IS/IT). The development of our next generation Mission Management System or Secure Information System for military helicopter platforms The development of our next generation SATCOM Terminal The continuing support and sustainment of our in-service products, including Avionics Mission Systems, Secure Intercom Systems, SATCOM Systems, and Air-to-Ground Connectivity Systems Supporting one of the several studies we are undertaking for the Integrated Module Communications (IMC) programme, to shape the future of aircraft communication systems Key tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to Define the E2 Plan for FLX in accordance with Group E2 Strategy whilst accounting for local business priorities Manage delivery of all aspects of the FLX E2 plan as a project: scope, performance, schedule and milestones, workload, budget, risks and opportunities. Organises the different activities to achieve the expected results with the relevant stakeholders and is accountable during all the different phases of the E2 Project Identify and secure the resources and skills need to deliver the E2 plan Understand the tools and technology available which form each of the Engineering work benches Plan and monitor updates to, and manage tailoring of, PP&T in agreement with the Business Line Process Owner (BLPO) and according to the FLX BL Engineering Governance memo. Work with Local Process Correspondents and Engineering Managers to deploy PP&T. Work with the BLPO to capture the needs (evolution or addition) of Practices & Tools (training, coaching, and license etc.), update the E2 plan and monitor deployment of subsequent updates. Ensure the IS/IT organisation delivers the appropriate infrastructure and services in line with engineering needs Responsibility for the management of FLX Business Managed Networks Identify the E2 budget (both Engineering and IS/IT) and make sure that it is taken into account through the Multi-Year Budget exercise Report the progress on the FLX E2 deployment plan to the BL E2M and Country/Corporate E2M as required, through Initiation & update of the E2 Project dashboard and the associated deployment KPI Organisation of Project reviews with the relevant stakeholders, Contribute to the E2 community by sharing experiences, offering support, exchanging ideas and debating on the resolution of issues Candidate's knowledge, qualifications and experience should cover the majority of the following, though training will be provided for the right candidate where gaps exist: Minimum of a Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject or higher education/equivalent training and experience Excellent communications skills, both verbally and written, with the ability to present and explain technical and complex problems, tailored appropriately for the audience Knowledge of and experience of project management including: integration, value, scope, quality, procurement, time, finance, human resource, risk, opportunities and communications. Customer-focused with an understanding the need for governance General knowledge of system, hardware and software design, development, installation and testing; with an understanding of solutions and software development principles and lifecycles Knowledge of the E2 tools/applications and workbenches, with the ability to learn quickly to understand the purpose and use cases for each of the individual applications and how they interface (e.g. for Systems Engineering; DOORs, Capella, Mozart, Reqtify, Enterprise Architect etc.) Proven track record engaging and influencing stakeholders Excellent decision and problem solving skills PC Literate: Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio The successful candidate will be someone who Is a UK National by birth, with the ability to achieve Security Clearance Is a team player with a "can-do" attitude that performs effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and promotes the values of inclusiveness and diversity Displays excellent leadership competency; can effectively manage stakeholders and drive through positive change in complex organisation whilst also maintaining a tactical delivery focus.
