The Role:

The Employee Relations Investigation Officer will be responsible for the completion of disciplinary and grievance investigations for all employees, up to and including Managing Director in line with the Accenture UK Disciplinary Policy and the Grievance Procedure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The completion of disciplinary and grievance investigations for all employees, up to and including Managing Director.
  • Planning and conducting interviews; note-taking; obtaining all information necessary to complete an investigation; producing clear and concise investigation reports which summarise the key facts and conclusion; communication of conclusion to the individuals.
  • Participate in complex Global Conduct Counts Matters (GCCM) investigations and conduct other GCCM investigations as required. In all cases completion of investigations need to be timely and without unnecessary delay.
  • Keep stakeholders (respondents/ complainants/ ER case Manager / GCCM Leadership/ HR partners and ER Manager) aware of progress.
  • Act as Disciplinary and Grievance Subject Matter Expert (SME) and develop and maintain currency in subject matter knowledge through understanding Accenture's internal policies; the ACAS Code of Practice regarding Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures; membership of professional bodies such as CIPD, or other sources, such as employment case law updates.
  • As SME own the content of disciplinary and grievance templates. Ensure that all templates are fit for purpose, reflect legislation, case law, and practice.
  • Support HR professionals/business leads involved in investigations through advice, 1 on 1 coaching, or the design and delivery of training updates or packages.
  • Develop and offer coaching to a network of notetakers from the HR function. Make accurate and timely updates of the ER Case Management and Global Navex Systems.
  • Provide management information when required. Highlight trends in case types which may necessitate action to address.
  • Recognised as an expert in the Disciplinary and Grievance investigation processes, through having substantial practical experience, or through a proven aptitude and willingness to quickly acquire and successfully apply new skills and experiences.
  • Additional responsibilities may include Conduct Counts projects and ER reporting (for example regular updates to the team case log, updating case precedent detail and End-of-Year case analysis/reporting) and other ER related tasks eg supporting DSARs

  • Strong analytical and written skills to produce investigation reports/notes, or recommendations for solutions based on reasoned rationales. It is important to also have an enquiring mind and the ability to spot patterns/trends.
  • Understanding of the Accenture organisation and culture.
  • Design, develop and deliver professional presentations at all levels and match delivery to the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to work independently to manage their case work with little oversight (knowing that they can seek advice and support when this is needed).
  • Balance conflicting priorities so that all elements of their role are met.
  • Demonstrate well-developed reasoning skills through the ability to identify, interpret and understand complex issues.
  • Review, identify and make improvements to policies and practices, based on sound commercial arguments/ reasoning.
  • Articulate complex information clearly and succinctly, both orally and in writing. Should have a keen eye for detail.
  • Must be able to understand and articulate often subtle interpersonal nuances - recognising the need to adapt communication style depending on the audience.
  • Show personal flexibility and actively support other members of the Employee Relations Team achieve business goals.
  • Show business acumen to overcome challenges or barriers that they encounter.
  • Maintain personal, employee, and business confidentiality in all matters that they, the Employee Relations Team, and wider Accenture business are involved in.

Qualifications and Experience
  • CIPD qualified preferable
  • Field HR experience would be an asset
