Finance Manager (Fixed Term Contract 15-18 months)

Our client is a forward-thinking leader in outsourced waste management and recycling solutions, offering customized services to meet the growing needs of domestic customers and businesses at local, regional, and national levels.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious individual to join our dynamic and friendly Finance division. The successful candidate will oversee three direct reports and report directly to the Finance Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the accounts department, collaborating with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Seeking improvements and efficiencies in procedures and controls, handling ad-hoc projects and requests, and collaborating with IT to test projects and improvements.
  • Conducting interviews and leading team recruitment efforts.
  • Working with the Purchase Ledger Supervisor & Credit Manager to review creditors, debtors, and active disputes.
  • Gathering KPIs and target figures, and reviewing them with team members during quarterly one-on-one meetings.
  • Managing and processing overheads, direct debits, and unallocated cash.
  • Approving high-value credits and reviewing errors related to credits.
  • Pulling payment reports to review cash flow with the Finance Director.
  • Handling journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Mentoring the Management Accountant to take on more month-end responsibilities.
  • Assisting the Finance Director with month-end management account preparation.
  • Authorizing and processing weekly payment runs.

Essential Attributes:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Proven experience in supervising and leading a team.
  • Solid background in a similar Finance Manager role.
  • AAT qualified or QBE.
  • Strong ability to mentor, coach, and motivate a team.
  • Confidence in suggesting and implementing process improvements.
  • Proficient in Excel and other systems.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, energetic, and fast-paced environment.
