Group Leader - Resource, Finance and Risk

Location: Basingstoke/Reading. This role offers hybrid working.

Salary: £61,330 - £79,000 (depending on skills and experience)

We are currently seeking a Resource Manager to join our team within the ESH&Q function. Duties will include overseeing the allocation of human, financial, and material resources to drive ESH&Q initiatives and projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop, deploy and maintain functional resource, finance, and risk strategy, policy and standards in line with business requirements, through the effective collaboration of senior leaders and wider business units i.e. tech centres/functions.
  • Establish suitable governance frameworks and monitoring regimes within the function to ensure leaders have appropriate information from will which lead to intelligent and informed decision making.
  • Create reports and board papers. Lead continuous improvement projects that enhance performance and deliver both tangible and intangible benefits.
  • Engage with other business operations teams and corporate functions to develop and deploy improvement initiatives relating to resource, finance, and risk management.
  • Lead and manage a team of resource, finance and risk specialists to define tactical delivery objectives.
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model, coach and develop a proactive team culture, sharing best practice principles, highlighting, and rewarding good behaviours and performance.
  • Manage the functional budget ensuring timely reporting of key information.
  • Manage functional resource deployment incl. recruitment, transfers, exits, capability, etc.
  • Manage the functional risk management plan, ensuring that corporate requirements are delivered, and suitable governance regimes are in place to track progress and measure performance.
  • Analyse resource and financial forecasts and actuals against agreed parameters and drive proactive resourcing decisions and behaviours accordingly.
  • Proactively Look at ways to enhance resource and financial performance to save money, improve optimisation or increase productivity.
  • Develop, maintain and co-ordinate functional service delivery model in collaboration with relevant senior leaders, ensuring delivery needs are met and customer satisfaction is maintained.
