My client is a dynamic and rapidly growing nonprofit organisation based in Reading. The charity is committed to making a meaningful and lasting impact in the community we serve. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Finance to join their team and contribute to their mission.
Job DescriptionThe Head of Finance will need to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy aligned with the organisation's mission and goals.
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for presentation to the board and senior leadership.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements.
- Provide timely and accurate financial analysis, recommendations, and reports to guide decision-making.
- Collaborate with program managers to assess and report on the financial performance of various projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with the development team to manage grant budgets, track expenses, and ensure grant compliance.
- Work closely with fund-raising and development teams to provide financial data and reporting to donors.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and liaise with auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Foster professional growth and development within the finance department.
The successful Head of Finance will have/be:
- A qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CCAB) with extensive leadership experience
- The knowledge and ability to take ownership of all Finance processes such as organisational development and design, change management, legislative matters, funding and other external issues, annual reporting to Charity Commissions and Companies House.
- Strong understanding of charity accounting, fund accounting, and grant management.
- Knowledge of financial software and proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
On offer for the Head of Finance:
- Full Time - 37 hours per week / Part Time (21-25 hours per week)
- 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
