Job Role: Head of Event Operations (GRC)

Location: London, E1 - Hybrid - 2 days in office per week

Salary: Competitive (DoE)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident Head of Event Operations/ Events Operations Manager to take a leading role in delivering large-scale B2B conferences and Awards for our market-leading brands! You'll be joining our newly formed Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Events team who manage an established event calendar, but with opportunity for scalability.

For us, the right candidate is a successful line manager who can really drive a team with solid experience of leading multi-track events, whether that's here in the UK or internationally. Your Event Operations Management experience includes Awards or B2B conference operations delivery on a large-scale.

Job purpose, tasks and responsibilities

As our Head of Event Operations, you'll be working with our leading brands Axco and ICA as part of our GRC Events team. Our GRC team is incredibly dedicated, collaborative and hugely passionate about delivering events for our brands that enhance their place in the market and are commercially successful. Our events team is action-oriented giving equal importance to meeting our brand's goals, achieving financial results and maintaining well-being in the team.

Responsibilities of this role include, but aren't limited to;

  • Supporting the delivery of our Awards, Summits, Masterclasses, Conferences, Webinars and Marketing Solutions through your own creation.
  • Creating & owning the operational costs and margins for Events and Marketing Solutions.
  • Collaborating closely with our Business Support team to set up key SalesForce and financial dashboards.
  • Leading our Operations team using the team priorities, critical metrics which have been crafted by you, and team objectives that provide a means to measure successful delivery of the strategy to the SLT/Management team (MT). You'll also be training, mentoring and supporting the team to help them with their growth & development
  • Developing a forward planned schedule of tasks and events, working approximately 12-months in advance.
  • Creating the team strategy & priorities for the next 3 years and where new events are added, you'll provide calculation of workload and capacity.
  • Working, ideally, to an 18-month advanced schedule you and your team will ensure that suitable dates are on hold for each event.
  • Negotiating multi-year agreements with venues as well as terms and conditions.

Essential and desirable capabilities

We know it's not a skill, but the successful candidate must have permission to work in the role's location by the start of their employment.

Essential experience needed for this role includes;

  • Previous experience as a Senior Event Operations Manager, including leading a team.
  • Experienced in either Awards or b2b conference operations delivery.
  • People management experience, including training, performance management, coaching and setting objectives.
  • Handling financials and understanding of P&Ls.
  • Excellent customer service skills with fantastic attention to detail.
  • Project management skills with the ability to multi-task and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel and Microsoft Teams.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with strong negotiation and decision-making ability.
  • Creating and documenting efficient processes and leading by example when following those processes.
  • Supporting numerical & analytical reporting.

Desirable experience needed for this role includes;

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with Salesforce and Award Force.
