Role: HSE Advisor

Contract: 9 months

Location: Suffolk, with travel to Bedford and wales

IR35: Outside

Our Client has a requirement for a HSE Advisor, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Multiple Locations.

Role Purpose:

  • Administer the preparation of the project HSE Plan - Construction Phase Plan, Construction Environmental Management Plan, Waste Management Plan.
  • Administer any necessary HSE procedures, instructions, and documentation. Conduct regular reviews and internal inspections to verify processes and procedures are working effectively.
  • Be the point of call with Project Management and site HSE Manager all the aspects of Health, Safety and Environment in accordance with Contract requirements, Site HSE Management System, project's initiatives planning and updated regulation. Research good practices along with industry innovations to minimize harm. Shall be visible and actively engaged on construction activities with Contractors and Employees.
  • Conduct monthly HSE internal audits and inspections to monitor compliance with the HSE standards and the implementation of necessary measures to eliminate risk, HSE deviations and non-conformities. Present finding to the HSE Manager and wider team.
  • Support the HSE Manager with collecting information for tenders.
  • Participate in meetings with the Project Management team. Share innovations, best practice and high-level issues identified on site.
  • Collect Project HSE KPI data and ensured timely monthly delivery to the HSE Manager.
  • Administer the International HSE standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001), as well as ESG/CSRD and other standards such as IFC performance standards, World Bank EHS, EBRD etc.
  • Actively promotes ownership, accountability and integrity as primary behavioral drive values.
  • Inspires trust by demonstrating openness and honesty, behaving consistently and living up to commitments. Holds self and others accountable for living the corporate HSE Principles.
  • Prioritize major hazards and risks across the site to ensure effective actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks with particular emphasis on all working at height activities, vehicle people interphase and general housekeeping.
  • Leads incident investigations for EHS and environmental incidents and participates in the management review of all serious incidents. Final report review and lessons learner washout meeting will be coordinated with the Head of EHS and other projects which can benefit from the findings
  • Participate in HSE executive visits, on absent of site HSE Manager
  • Deputies site HSE Manager in his absent.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • More than 5 years of experience in a health safety and environment managerial role, at least 3 years in heavy construction projects.
  • Excellent use of English (written & spoken), additional language will be considered as an asset (e.g., Greek).
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrating respect for others, responsibility building and integrity in all aspect of life.
  • Inspire trust by demonstrating openness and honesty, behaving consistently and living up to commitments. Hold self and others accountable for living the corporate HSE principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM regulations
  • Strong understanding on the principals of prevention
  • Strong understanding of the Working at Heights Regulations with active involvement in reducing/eliminating risk
  • Good understanding of NASC's SG4 and TG20 will be a strong addition.
  • Determined and analytical approach to problem solving and incident investigation.
  • PC literate in Microsoft suite
  • Strong aptitude to manage subcontractors.
  • Evidence of active involvement in behavioural programs
  • Evidence of actively promoting industry innovations

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
  • Internal Auditor, IOSH regional branch participation, First Aid certification and behavioural coaching, Incident/Accident investigation will be considered as an asset.
  • Clear evidence of maintain CPD records
  • Chartered status (or working towards) of a national HSE Institute - CMIOSH
  • Mental health certification
  • Comprehension of BS PAS128
  • CAT and Genny training
  • Good understanding of CDM and principals of prevention.
  • SMSTS or equivalent
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Construction appreciation
