International Tax Manager, AXA XL

8 month Fixed Term Contract

Taking responsibility for a portfolio of entities, the successful applicant will be the key point of contact for the taxation affairs of those entities during the fixed term contract period, with specific responsibility for the management of corporate income taxes.The portfolio will be a subset of AXA XL's operations in the UK & Lloyd's, APAC and Europe and International Reinsurance business units, which cover 28 countries.Reporting to the Senior Managers for Reporting and Compliance and working closely with other tax managers based in London and Paris, with external advisors and with other tax teams in the wider AXA Group this role provides a great opportunity to develop both technically and in soft skills.

In addition, the role will support other senior members of the AXA XL tax team (the tax team) in responding to requests from the business, AXA Group Tax, AXA XL senior leadership and tax authorities and support various members of the global tax team in ad hoc projects.

What will your essential responsibilities include?As part of a small team of tax managers you will be responsible for:

Managing your portfolio of entities

Key contact for all corporate income taxes for the allocation of entities and managing the delivery of tax services for those entities.

Managing the relationships with internal finance teams, external advisors and other AXA Group teams that may be involved in the receipt or provision of tax services.

Working with the Transfer Pricing team to ensure transfer pricing policies are implemented and accounted for in the tax returns and legal entity and Group accounts.

Working on ad hoc projects as required for your allocated entities or on a wider basis.

Tax compliance

The preparation of the timely and accurate completion of corporate tax compliance of an allocation of entities in Europe and Asia (together with Latin America "Rest of World / RoW").

Where the work is prepared outside of the tax team taking responsibility as the primary reviewer of all work products from external advisors and AXA local teams, including furnishing information to enable the timely and accurate preparation of all tax compliance work

For the allocation of entities the administration and management of tax compliance deliverables ensuring that all direct tax compliance requirements are met.

Support tax authority audits/enquiries, including the timely provision of information in response to tax audit requests and participating in communication/meetings with tax authorities where required.Calculation and monitoring CIT prepayments and refunds.

Identify opportunities and recommending steps to improve the processes and systems to streamline the compliance process.

Monitor changes in tax law and communicate estimated impacts.

Tax Reporting

The timely and accurate preparation of all tax reporting work, for an allocation of entities, on a quarterly basis in Europe and Asia and assistance in the forecasting process.

In liaison with the local finance teams, the preparation of timely and accurate tax disclosures for inclusion in the legal entity statutory accounts.

Making appropriate journal bookings to ensure all tax implications of the tax compliance processes are correctly reflected in the accounts of the business.

Identification and consideration of uncertain tax positions including ensuring appropriate provisions and included in the legal entity and Group accounts and communication with senior management as appropriate.

Identify opportunities and recommend steps to improve the processes and systems to streamline reporting processes.

Monitor changes in tax law and communicate estimated impacts on the legal entity and Group accounts.

Assisting with the communication with our outside auditors (EY), including responding to all questions and requests for information.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

London based qualified Chartered Tax Advisor or Chartered Accountant (ACCA, ICAS, or ICAW) or non-UK equivalent, with some post-qualification experience.

Insurance experience, in particular in the Lloyd's market, would be an advantage but not essential.

Sound UK compliance tax knowledge and experience of both UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards, knowledge of IFRS 17 would be an advantage but not essential.

Robust interpersonal communication, presentation, facilitation and influence skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and externally.

Project Management skills to manage a portfolio of entities; proactively engaging with stakeholders and ensuring a disciplined approach to timeframes and resources.

Highly organised to manage business as usual as activity efficiently as well as ad hoc queries and longer-term project work.
