IT & VMware Platform Administrator Guildford - Hybrid-based with occasional visits to the London Data Centre required Full time £45,000-£50,000

As an IT & VMware Platform Administrator reporting to the IT Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure, Windows Servers, Active Directory, O365, and Microsoft Productivity Suite. Your responsibilities include systems design, implementation, capacity planning, security management, and ongoing support.
This dynamic role will involve technical leadership, project management, and collaboration across various technical disciplines.

What will your role look like?
- Lead the development of the VMware Platform and associated virtual technologies
- Own day-to-day maintenance of virtual platforms and data centre hardware
- Maintain and update backup solutions (Veeam Backup and Replication)
- Conduct regular firmware updates and software version upgrades
- Provide guidance and training on VMware platform and Microsoft productivity suite
- Ensure monitoring of platform services and produce monthly reports on platform state and health
- Take the lead in planning and implementing technical projects
- Maintain technical knowledge through continuous learning and qualification renewal
- Author and review departmental policies and procedures in line with ISO requirements
- Offer technical support via CRM ticketing system to internal users and external customers
- Develop and maintain detailed project documentation
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the company
Role Requirements:
- Full UK Driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Demonstrable experience in a similar/same role
- Hands on virtualisation experience (VMware)
- Experience with physical and virtual servers (including migrations)
- 2 years experience in in VMware or Microsoft
- Qualifications in VMware or Microsoft would be advantageous but not essential
- High standard of written and spoken English
Experience of:
- Setting up virtual networks, and distributed switches
- Creating, cloning, and provisioning virtual machines
- Configuring VM settings, including CPU, memory, storage, and network resources
- Managing snapshots for backup and recovery purposes
- Deploying and configuring VMware vSphere environments, including vCenter Server and ESXi physical hosts
- O365 day-to-day User Management, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Azure, Configuring policies via Intune
- Managing and maintaining Windows-based servers and workstations
- Implementing high availability solutions, such as vSphere HA and DRS
