WHAT TO EXPECT
The Suspension Function Group (SFG) team is responsible for the design, analysis and release of vehicle chassis suspension components including, springs, dampers, roll control and air supply commodities. This includes developing and implementing system and component strategies, developing detailed designs and delivering Engineering sign-off against customer requirements.
Bushes have significant contribution to the overall vehicle attribute performance particularly refinement and vehicle dynamics, as well as quality in terms of error state avoidance and component reliability. Delivery of these components and systems is an essential element in delivering successful and profitable programmes.
You will be for supporting the delivery of components from concept to production overseeing all stages of the design, validation and production launch of components ensuring smooth integration between the bushes and the tier 1 commodities (links, knuckles & Frames). As we move into an integraded systems enginering culture this will also involve interaction with the Axle System Development teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System
- Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.
- Manage Change Request, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones.
- Manage vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues.
- Resolve issues with component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets.
- Ensure all appropriate JLR standards are met through-out design maturation.
- Component interface management.
- Use of CAE toolsets to predict component performance and variability.
- Receiving, collating, quality checking and releasing component attribute data into JLR systems
- Interaction with SFG Programme team, vehicle programmes and interfacing commodity and attribute engineers
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
- A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes.
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
