WPS team is responsible for the full lifecycle of planning, execution, procurement and operations of Haleon's real estate portfolio consisting of complex R&D facilities, office buildings, and sales office sites. The sites may be owned, leased or be occupied through a serviced space arrangement. WPS works in close collaboration with our Global Support Function partners (Tech, HR, EHS, Legal etc) and relies extensively on our network of vendor partners to deliver a safe, productive and desirable work environment for all users of our sites.

Role Overview

The ' Major Programme , WPS Construction Project Manager ' will be responsible for planning, execution, and successful delivery of the new Weybridge Innovation Facility. In doing so, the candidate will work in partnership with the R&D Project Lead and manage an extensive external team of designers, professional advisors , enabling works and main contractors . The person will need to coordinate activities at a programme level an d include Haleon internal stakeholders and functions. In addition, the person will be responsible for working on a successful transition plan into the new facility and decommissioning the old site . The Project Vision is:

"To deliver a warm, inspiring, and inclusive destination by creating a state-of-the-art UK innovation facility with strong digital capabilities that will promote Haleon and attract and retain talent."

This facility will bring Haleon brand and values to life in which trusted science is embedded into its design and will develop a porous and dynamic innovative ecosystem which connects with consumers and external partners in a Deep Human Understanding environment".

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:
  • Ensure project governance and oversight.
  • Own the aspects of time, costs, scope, and risk for the project - matching R&D and business requirements into an end-product that meets expectations.
  • Ensure all detailed activities are focused on achieving the desired delivery completion threshold for the Board.
  • Retain focus on key project deliverables.
  • Lead the planning process, establish, and manage programme plan including internal and external dependencies.
  • Liaise with Planning consultants and local authorities to ensure Campus design complies with local government requirements and ensures successful planning consent.
  • Be the detailed link between the Business (R&D) requirements and the Project Team supply (designers, planners, cost-managers etc)
  • Manage the cross-functional professional team and set/manage clear deliverables
Stakeholder Management:
  • Executive reporting - Co-author with R&D
  • Manage stakeholders on an on-going basis. Preparation of materials for forums such as sponsor groups and steering committees as required.
Transition & Operational Readiness:
  • Take ownership from WPS perspective for move-ins, close out and new site operations.
Key Milestones:
  • Key milestone for initial duration is to mid-2024, which is the target date for full planning permission and discharging conditions.
  • From mid-2024 to end of project, responsibilities will include successful management and delivery of the Contractor works (enabling and main works packages).
  • From Q4 2026 onwards, the new facility will need to be managed through transition from WSG and into BAU as a new facility.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Level of Education: Master's Degree

Area of Specialisation: Project Management, Facility Management, HSE, Engineering, and an understanding of Research & Development and Laboratory environments

Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required:
  • Significant (10+ years) professional Facility services or Real Estate experience in a comparable large, complex company
  • Significant leadership experience (5+ years at Director level or above)
  • Strong capability to execute; this is core to the role
  • Strategy development and implementation; strong value creation capability
  • Strong stakeholder management and strategic influencing skills
  • Strong people leadership and management skills
  • Strong capability to drive accountability
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Strong technical expertise
  • Demonstrated decision making capability
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated programme management capability
  • Understanding of legal/ compliance/ regulatory frameworks
