Are you an experienced estimator ready to work on high-profile commercial construction projects? A leading construction business in Canada is seeking a skilled Managing Estimator to join its growing team. They specialize in large-scale commercial projects and are looking for top talent to relocate from the UK to Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating team, preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Develop, manage, and present comprehensive estimates that include material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
- Oversee the bidding process, including evaluating tender submissions, negotiating with subcontractors, and ensuring competitive pricing.
- Provide strategic advice on cost-saving initiatives, value engineering, and risk management to optimize project budgets.
- Manage pre-construction activities and work closely with stakeholders to refine project scopes and objectives.
- Monitor market conditions, price fluctuations, and emerging trends to ensure up-to-date and competitive estimating practices.
- Train, mentor, and manage junior estimators, ensuring consistent quality and accuracy across all estimates.
- Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in estimating, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven track record of managing estimating functions on large-scale commercial construction projects.
- Expertise in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Sage Estimating, or equivalent) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
