One of my clients is looking for a Procurement Manager to join an existing Procurement team who are responsible for managing a global supply base delivering materials into manufacturing.From their own admission this is in a challenging environment, managing high mix, low volume materials and components with detailed specifications and uncompromising quality requirements. You will ideally already have this experience from your existing / previous Procurement Manager jobs.If you feel you fit the brief and want to know more, please reach out. This Procurement Manager job will need a 5-year DBS and a 5-year checkable history due to the nature of the industry. Shortlisting will take place early January.
Procurement Manager Duties will include;
- Control of the sourcing strategy for a selected group of commodities
- Identify, benchmark and select new suppliers to deliver your sourcing strategy
- Manage an established global network of manufacturers to deliver materials against challenging and fluctuating MRP and project schedules
- Establish contracts and framework agreements to ensure security of supply and delivery of improvements against KPIs
- Identify alternative global commodity sources to reduce costs, improve quality and mitigate risk
- Manage supplier performance, implementing and progressing effective supplier development plans
- Co-ordinate activities between engineering and suppliers to improve the manufacturability of materials, components and assemblies based on operational priorities
Procurement Manager requirements;
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a strategic Procurement position
- Specific commodity management experience (such as machined metal components, electronic assemblies, ceramics, mechanical assemblies, raw materials).
- Significant procurement experience in a highly technical /engineering environment.
- Significant experience working in a direct manufacturing environment (preferably low volume / high mix).
- Knowledge of supply chain, material management, demand forecasting and engineering change management principles.
- Working knowledge of SAP would be ideal
- Working with excel to compile and evaluate data will be an important aspect of your role.
- MS Office proficient - Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, PowerPoint.
- Global travel may be required.
