Are you a seasoned professional in project and programme management seeking a challenging role? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Corporate Programme Manager to join our dynamic team based in Wakefield One.

Our team focuses on enhancing the corporate estate, including schools, through effective procurement, project management, and strategic planning.
We are looking for: We seek two team members with a technical background in construction and project management, demonstrating experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver construction projects from inception to completion. Candidates should possess experience in delivering projects within public buildings and/or educational estates. Preference will be given to candidates with a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) background.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the key client for managing projects and minor works, fostering effective partnerships with third-party providers.
- Provide professional guidance on project and programme management activities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a Programme Risk Register, ensuring effective risk management across all schemes.
- Lead liaison sessions with procurement teams and internal teams to discuss existing and future projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by assisting in policy and procedure development, aligning with key service delivery objectives.
- Deputise for the Service Manager Projects when required.
Requirements:
Qualifications / Training:
- PRINCE 2 Project Management or equivalent.
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject.
Knowledge:
- Good understanding of programme, project management, and contract management techniques.
- Knowledge of procurement processes in the public sector.
Experience:
- Management experience within a large, diverse, and complex organization.
- Experience of commissioning significant school capital schemes.
Skills:
- Good negotiation skills and effective communication.
- Professional leadership with strong presentation skills.
- Competent use of MS Office packages and relevant IT tools.
About the Team: These roles will be based in the Projects Team within the Property, Facilities Management, and Health & Safety Service at Wakefield Council. Our small team of program managers, located at Wakefield One, is dedicated to providing technical support to Council Directorates, ensuring projects are effectively scoped and delivered within the specified time, cost, and quality parameters. Our property portfolio includes schools, heritage sites, and public buildings across the five towns of Wakefield.
