My client, a £Multi-Billion Engineering firm, is going through an exciting transformation period. With prospects of doubling their consumer base over the next few years and £multi-hundred-million investments planned, they are looking to redefine their existing procurement function to create a stronger foundation on which to grow. With a new strategic outline in place, they are seeking a dynamic procurement category manager to spearhead their end-to-end construction procurement process.

This role is an integral part of our Construction Procurement team, reporting directly to the Senior Category Manager. Initially offered as a fixed-term 12-month position, it holds the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

My client is presenting an exceptional opportunity to advance your career within a dynamic team, working on high-value public sector procurement projects. You'll benefit from CIPS sponsorships, the chance to lead a team, and the ability to strengthen your portfolio as a well-rounded procurement professional.

As a Category Manager, you will:

  • Drive the creation of cutting-edge category strategies in the Construction and Engineering sectors, revolutionizing procurement processes and unlocking substantial cost savings.
  • Uncover lucrative commercial growth opportunities through in-depth market analyses, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and senior procurement leaders to secure buy-in for your strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the charge in managing multi-million-pound tenders, ensuring optimal value while adhering to UK regulations, particularly FTS.
  • Execute a wide range of essential procurement activities - from strategic sourcing and tendering to contracting, negotiating, and cultivating strong supplier relationships.

Category Manager Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in public sector procurement, ideally gained through diverse Construction procurement projects, though this is not a strict requirement.
  • Expertise in public sector tendering processes under FTS (Find a Tender Service) Regulations is essential.
  • IT Procurement and NEC Contract experience is highly desirable, but not a pre-requisite.
