I'm currently looking for an Procurement Manager to join an established construction company based within the South-East

Role: Procurement Manager
Location: Hertfordshire Hemel Hempstead
Salary: 70,000
Working Type: Full Time - Hybrid

To be successful in role you must be a natural collaborator, using diplomacy to influence key stakeholders across the business. In this key position, you will play an integral part in strengthening the day-to-day operations by building a fit-for-purpose procurement function, ensuring the operational team has all materials needed, when they're needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • evaluate and onboard new suppliers, considering factors such as quality, reliability, risks and cost-effectiveness
  • negotiate favourable terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising on quality
  • lead contract negotiations and ensure that contracts are comprehensive and in the best interest of the organisation whilst monitoring and managing contract performance, addressing any deviations from agreed terms
  • identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain and implement strategies to mitigate disruptions by staying abreast of market conditions, geopolitical factors and other external influences that may impact the procurement process
  • work closely with key stakeholders to understand project requirements and align procurement activities with project timelines
  • develop and implement procurement plans aligned with the organisation's targets and project requirements
  • identify opportunities for process improvements in the procurement cycle to enhance efficiency
  • implement best practices and leverage technology to streamline procurement processes
  • generate and analyse reports related to procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost metrics and provide insight to management
  • engage, motivate and support the development of your team
  • monitor and identify training and development opportunities for the team

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Manager in the construction sector
  • strong knowledge of procurement processes, contract negotiation and supplier management
  • understanding of regulatory requirements related to procurement in the construction industry
  • excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • results-oriented with a focus on achieving cost savings and operational efficiency
  • highly organised with the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands effectively
  • strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • people skills must enjoy working with people on a personal level, building trust, being approachable, tactful and diplomatic
  • flexibility to travel and work at multiple locations
  • driving license and access to a suitable vehicle to drive for work purposes
