Project Manager, Cambridge, 12 month contract, rate up to £30 per hour depending on experience

Your new company
We're working with an organisation in Cambridge that is looking to recruit an Project Manager for a 12-month contract. The team are going through a digitisation programme and moving all of their building asset data from manual and paper-based systems to a new asset management system. This information includes information on a range of assets and systems, such as boilers, fire extinguishers and lifts.
More accurate and reliable asset information will deliver a range of benefits, including the development of an improved Planned Preventative Maintenance Programme (PPM) to ensure that all buildings are well-maintained, compliant and safe, and to develop plans to decarbonise the organisations' buildings. This programme is set to start in October and run for 12 months.

Your new role
The Project Manager position is being created to support the Programme Manager to deliver the programme in different phases. You'll be working with the surveying and wider estates and FM teams to collect and verify building data and to manage the project. You will be visiting the various sites and buildings to support with the surveys and inspections as well as supporting the overall management of the project, providing technical expertise as required.

The role is expected to include the following:
• Project Planning: Help in creating project plans, timelines, and schedules.
• Documentation: Maintain project documentation, including reports, meeting minutes, and status updates.
• Communication: Facilitate communication between team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
• Task Tracking: Monitor and track project tasks, ensuring they stay on schedule.
• Risk Management: Identify and report potential project risks and assist in mitigation strategies.
• Resource Allocation: Help allocate and manage project resources, including personnel and budget.
• Quality Assurance: Assist in ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards.
• Issue Resolution: Help resolve project issues and roadblocks as they arise.
• Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
• Scope Management: Assist in defining and managing project scope, including changes and scope creep.
• Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with project stakeholders and address their concerns.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate the efforts of project team members and ensure everyone is on the same page.
• Documentation: Maintain project documentation and update it as necessary.

What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for someone with experience of project management and, in particular, knowledge of building fabric, FM and compliance. You'll ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a building surveying, building services, facilities or engineering background. Good knowledge IT systems, including Excel and communication skills, will be essential as you'll be dealing with a range of stakeholders. You will need good attention to detail when writing up reports and creating project plans and documentation. You'll be able to work under your own initiative and be able to work to tight deadlines. Knowledge and experience from using a CAFM type system would be highly beneficial.

What you'll get in return
You will receive an hourly rate of up to £30 per hour and a 12-month contract. We expect that the Assistant PM or Project Manager will be based in the offices for 3 days per week with the rest of your time working from home. The client expects this programme of work to last for 5+ years and the expectation is that after the initial 12 months the role will become permanent.
