The client is seeking an established Project Manager to ensure the effective planning, management and delivery of their strategic vision, with a particular focus on delivery of the organisation's Retail team's highly prioritised Future Ticketing programme.

The Project Manager will work collaboratively with multiple departments and functions across the organisation to plan project activities inline with their project governance and standards.

Client Details

The client is a Transport and Rail organisation located in the North West.

You must be able to commute to the client's site in Liverpool a minimum of twice per week.

Description

The successful Project Manager will report into the Head of Ticketing and Retail, sitting in the Commercial department.

They will serve as the the lead Project Manager for the organisation's upgrade and innovation of ticket services, moving from paper tickets to digitised tap in, tap out methods. The programme of work will involve implementation of new ticket gates for stations, implementation of contactless EMV services to all stations, as well as serving as the conduit between the suppliers of these newly procured ticket services and the organisation's stakeholders/project resources.

In terms of practical responsibilities and duties, the Project Manager will be required to:

  • Make project level decisions required to control project scope, budget and timescales.
  • Decide which issues/risks should be escalated to more senior levels for resolution.
  • Validate all project spending against approved business case, prepare concise project reports, business cases, as well as any supplementary documentation required to facilitate effective deliver of the projects.
  • Manage suppliers and external consultants, holding them accountable for committed objectives.
  • Define and delegate the project resource team's roles and responsibilities for delivery.
  • Use risk management methodologies and apply risk reduction techniques.
  • Manage complex internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Support the Procurement Team to ensure tenders are completed without delays, ensuring any required input from internal colleagues, suppliers or stakeholders is submitted in the agreed timescales.
  • Assist the Head of Ticketing and Retail where appropriate.

Profile

The successful candidate will have well established project management skills i.e. expert in creating project plans, project reporting, managing multiple key stakeholders with competing demands, communicating effectively with external suppliers and stakeholders. This skill set in non-negotiable.

The candidate will also ensure 'buy in' from the project team members to ensure successful project delivery.

The candidate will have demonstrably experience working cross-departmentally, with and ability to ensure availability of resources from different business areas to maintain project schedules.

Previous experience in the Transport industry in desirable, although not essential.

Someone who enjoys collaboration, communication, and working as part of a positive, friendly team atmosphere would be well suited to this role. They should be clear and driven in their approach to deliver, whilst remaining receptive and amenable to other team member's perspectives.
