  • Any publicentity or entity concerned with providing governmentalservices.
  • Any government body (local orcentral), NHS entity, not for profit entity education institution(other than for-profit), charity, housing associations, politicalcompany, chamber of commerce

JobPurpose

As an Audit AssistantManager, you will lead and take ownership of multiple auditengagements and will take responsibility for overseeing anddeveloping junior staff. You will work closely with clients and becommitted to providing an exceptional service.

Role &Responsibilities
  • Assisting and advising the audit team on the formulationof audit strategy and planning.
  • Managing andcontrolling audit assignments from planning through to finalisationof reports in line with agreed timescales.
  • Controlling time spent and monitoring actual time withinbudget.
  • Acting as a point of contact forengagement leads and clients, ensuring both are kept fully informedof any issues arising and the progress of the audit.
  • Ensure standards and procedures maintained by whole teamand complete audit file presented with review pointscleared.
  • Draft the audit opinion summary forthe Manager and Partner and any other reporting documents,including group reporting and audit committee papers.
  • Leading and supervising an audit team, allocating work toteam members and ensuring the team complete work to qualitystandards and in a timely manner.
  • Providingon-the-job training to audit assistants and seniors.
  • Considering the needs and skills of those undersupervision, organising tasks and responsibilities.
  • Reviewing the work of seniors and providing informalfeedback throughout the fieldwork stage.
  • Providing constructive feedback for the completion ofteam member performance appraisals.
  • Buildingstrong working relationships with the client, ensuring any problemsor requests are dealt with promptly.
  • Responding to the needs of clients and teammembers.
  • Ensuring clients are billed accordingto agreed billing plans.
  • Assisting withbusiness development by working with audit colleagues andcolleagues in other service lines.
  • Identifyingand capitalising on opportunities and prospects for newwork.
  • Assesses and produces high quality workin line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevantregulatory requirements.

Skills, Knowledgeand Experience
  • ACA /CA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Experience of leading external audits from planningthrough to completion.
  • Relevant publicservices sector audit experience.
  • Up to datetechnical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102 and IFRS.
  • Experience of managing, training and coaching audittrainees.
  • Experience of using audit softwareand Microsoft packages.
  • Excellent written andverbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Actively seeks to enhance expertise andknowledge.
  • Ability to develop new initiativesand methodologies.
  • Ability to identify issuesthrough sound analysis and application of commercial acumen in allsituations.
  • Provides assistance, sharesexperience, provides meaningful feedback and proactively supportsthe development of others.
  • Takes ownership ofprojects, effectively delegates to others within the team and takesresponsibility for quality control.
  • Begins todevelop a network of client contacts and contacts in the widermarket.
