Senior Civil Engineer

A triple-office, international dedicated Civil & Structural Design Engineering Consultancy based in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, are actively looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with at least 5+ years' experience to join the company.

The company were founded in 2005 and have since grown to over 50 staff in their Head Office just 20km outside Belfast and are seeking to add another Senior Civil Engineer to their very strong design team. The company have an excellent reputation both locally and in England and a very varied project-sector portfolio, which spans from multi-storey Residential schemes through to Heritage projects and even heavy Civils-based works including Rail and Tunnelling.

Duties and Responsibilities of a Senior Civil Engineer

  • Project Delivery
  • Coordinates small project teams of engineers
  • Provides specialised technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by self
  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings
  • Prepares technical specification sections
  • Uses the engineering budget and schedule (Workflow)
  • Experience to manage deadlines and budgets
  • Experience to train and mentor junior members of staff
  • Experience to liaise directly with clients and local authorities
  • Contribute to Company Objectives by achieving individual KPIs as laid out by line manager.



Requirements of a Senior Civil Engineer

  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience
  • Overseeing and writing engineering reports
  • Leading and undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
  • Ability with specific computer software for developing detailed designs
  • Undertaking complex calculations
  • Ensure the project complies with legal requirements
  • Complete knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Ability to assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Ensure projects and designs are completed within budget and to programme
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills
  • CEng with a recognised professional institution would be favourable



A salary of 42,000 - 50,000 (depending on specific experience) is available for the right candidate, plus benefits including 31 days holiday (including bank holidays) and the ability to buy and sell up to 10 holidays per year, a 5% employer-matched pension scheme, a health cash plan involving eyecare and dental cover as well as an opt-in healthcare plan too.
