The Lead Infrastructure Architect role heads a team bridging the gap between the Solution Architecture, development, business analysis and project management. The Lead Infrastructure Architect will define, validate and promote the Infrastructure roadmap for large accounts including managing technical debt and designing infrastructure solutions for change, bids, and projects. A core member of the account leadership team, you will report in to the Delivery Director, with specific responsibility for infrastructure solution governance including participation in joint architecture governance with customers. Under your leadership, your team will deliver Infrastructure solutions and currency in support of Service Delivery, Growth and Change on the Account.
Your future duties and responsibilities
This role demands the candidate to have strong client engagement, team leadership, planning, communication and presentation skills, the capability to identify solutions and be proficient in technology transformation projects and the production of project proposals.
Specifically the Lead Infrastructure Architect is able to coach and mentor a team of architects to build logical models of networks, infrastructure components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of infrastructure architectures in specific business or functional areas. These models will reflect the Infrastructure architecture views and can be mapped to the solution architecture and technology roadmap owned by the Lead Infrastructure Architect. As Lead Infrastructure Design Architect you will provide governance to the production of detailed component specifications by your team and ensure they translate into detailed designs for implementation using selected products. You will define, validate and promote the good infrastructure for the account or multiple accounts, projects and bids within our team and to the customer. You will also assist in the preparation of technical plans, change governance and estimation from many sources to support the account governance and the full project life-cycle.
You will have broad knowledge within all areas of infrastructure including multiple cloud platforms, Linux, Wintel, SAN, Networks and Mobility. Your future duties and responsibilities The role of the Lead Infrastructure Architect is to:
Act as the focus of the Infrastructure Architect Team developing and maintaining Infrastructure roadmaps, governing Infrastructure solutions and contributing general technical knowledge and experience.
Set and manage stakeholder expectations regarding infrastructure.
Assess current and emergent technology, building and maintaining a technology roadmap and managing technical debt within the account, giving advice on price and performance.
Develop relationships with infrastructure product vendors.
Align the technology with the business and customer goals, identifying benefits and risk mitigation approaches associated with the proposed solution.
govern and ensure the application of appropriate technical standards.
Ensure infrastructure risks are managed, in particular non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability and performance.
Carry out formal and informal technical reviews to assure quality of the infrastructure solution design within your team.
Own the list of infrastructure concerns, architectural decisions and contributes to the technical risk register.
Coordinate plans and actions with Account, programme and project managers to make best use of available resources, including specialists.
Own collated infrastructure effort estimates and costs from teams, subcontractors and suppliers for one or more subsystems.
i Support the development of team members by knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Team leadership including management and motivation of diverse technical teams
Strong stakeholder management skills with experience working in large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver long-term business outcomes
Ideally you will have experience on working with legacy or early cloud and platforms (Linux/Windows)
Broad knowledge of Infrastructure Architecture such as Cloud Provisioning, Servers (Linux and Wintel), backups, storage, networks The candidate requires;
Experience of a wide range of enterprise technologies
The ability to create solutions for complex business needs
Strong organisational skills; keep track of multiple, complex time-critical activities; attention to detail
The ability to work effectively with remote and virtual teams
The ability to work with technical and business stakeholders
