Site Fitter / Team Leader (Welder/Fabricator)

Job Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Fitter / Team Leader (Welder/Fabricator) with expertise in structural steel erection on construction sites. As a Site Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining steel structures and components on construction sites across the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel fabrication and possess excellent welding and fabrication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine the required materials and procedures for the installation of steel structures.
- Fabricate and assemble steel components, including beams, columns, and frameworks, according to project specifications.
- Utilise various tools and equipment, such as welding machines, grinders, and cutting torches, to perform welding and fabrication tasks.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure that all fabricated components meet the required standards and specifications.
- Install and fit steel structures, ensuring accurate alignment and proper positioning.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as engineers and project managers, to ensure effective coordination and timely completion of projects.
- Adhere to safety standards and regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Maintain and repair steel structures as needed, including performing regular inspections and addressing any issues or damages.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Site Fitter, Welder, or Fabricator in the structural steel construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication techniques, processes, and equipment.
- Must have a CSCS Card.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent welding skills, including experience with MIG, TIG, and ARC welding techniques.
- Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in welding and fabrication.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions and at heights.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid welding certifications or qualifications preferred.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Happy to work across the UK, including nights away.
Salary Guide: £38,000 - £42,000 pa. Equiv. Rate: to £18.00 p/hr
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
Working hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday - 45 hours per week
