The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with experience of delivering programmes or projects to defined groups of people. We are ideally looking for somebody who has relevant experience of social value within the construction industry or built environment sector.
The Role
To be the dedicated Social Value Advisor for ISG Construction South. The role will be based between sites and the ISG regional office in Reading or Aldgate. The position is full time, and the successful candidate will also be required to assist with the implementation of Group and Business Unit social value strategies and winning future projects. The role involves working closely with other social value professionals, construction project teams, community partners and the supply chain. The candidate must have the confidence to support a number of project teams simultaneously to ensure that social value requirements are met. A methodical approach to workload is necessary, as is the ability to prioritise important over urgent work. The role involves working in both a standalone capacity as well as being part of a team. The individual should have experience related to the construction industry (or built environment projects) and social value where possible.

Key Accountabilities
Responsibilities
- Input on the design and delivery of the social value plan and how it will be achieved
- Support project teams to implement social value initiatives (including work placements, apprenticeships, educational events, careers events, community initiatives, supply chain engagement and support)
- Support projects in recording, reporting and achieving social value targets
- Meet client, stakeholder, legislative, other third party and internal requirements on social standards
- Advise the commercial team on securing supply chain involvement
- Identify and liaise with relevant partner organisations, such as local schools, charities, employment and skills agencies
- Monitor and review social value data to ensure accuracy and performance improvement
Key Deliverables - Project related
- Support the production of exemplary bids for winning work
- Liaise with the project site teams and supply chain on site and ensure that ISG, Client and Stakeholder social value objectives are met within required timeframes
- Develop, cultivate and maintain a culture whereby project teams self-deliver requirements with strategic support from the social value team
- Increase the knowledge and capability of project-based staff to deliver social value
- Increase the volume of social value activities in the South region
- Deliver internal training to project teams and trade contractors where appropriate
- Liaise with clients and professional teams via meetings and produce monthly project social value reports.
- Supporting Project Managers to maintain strong relationships with particular clients, local authorities and frameworks and represent the business within those forums
- Engage with the ISG Supply Chain and Procurement teams to drive continuous improvement against ISG objectives and client requirements
- Develop communication tools, (e.g. guidance and training materials, project newsletters, intranet articles etc.) to inform ISG personnel and stakeholders about projects or initiatives
- Capture ISG best practice and produce case studies to share information and improve performance
- Collect data for social value KPI measures and evidence
- Representing the business within relevant special interest groups (SIGs), and network meetings
- Devise and run community/school engagement programmes across the business and on individual projects
- Communicate social value issues and performance to site teams and senior management
- Report centrally on a monthly basis on project social value performance
- Experience of delivering programmes/projects with schools and community groups
