Role Title: Solution Architect (G8)
Reports To: Lead Architect
Overview
The Digital Design function manages and defines a conceptual architectural blueprint of digital technology, structure, and operation to determine how the University can effectively achieve and evolve its current and future objectives. The function is made up of an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architects and Business Analysts. The Digital Solution Architects manage to the architectural principles covering the design, implementation, security, and business technologies to ensure efficiency and efficacy by communicating with colleagues and team members to design Information Technology solutions. The Digital IT Service is a 24/7 operation and there may be a requirement to work out of hours, when required to ensure high service availability and completion of planned changes.
Responsibilities
. A technical leader with a deep understanding of business goals, business processes and enterprise architecture who works to conceptualize and assemble solution architecture designs to ensure that solutions meet business needs and are compatible with existing architectures.
. Enhancing and accelerating projects while ensuring the logical and physical architecture for a project aligns with the standards and reference architectures defined by the technical domain and enterprise architect.
. Working closely with other delivery leads, projects managers, business analysts, technical architects and external vendors to deliver the architectural design of technology solutions, utilizing their knowledge of defined reference architectures, technology trends, and implementation experience in order to translate a business need into a solution blueprint that represents an end-to-end technical solution.
. Ensuring compatibility between the proposed solutions and alignment with the digital design enterprise architecture.
. Reviewing and validating the digital delivery and third-party technical designs to ensure they align with enterprise and solution architecture.
. Populating and maintaining the solution architecture repository to ensure all solution designs are documented.
. Working in an agile team to incrementally develop the solution and support the team members.
. Identification, management, and mitigation of all technical risks that have the potential to impact the directorate and organisations' objectives

Qualifications - Professional Skills Certifications
. Educated to degree level, or equivalent in software engineering, software testing, computer science or computing infrastructure.
. TOGAF certification desirable.
Background & Experience
. Extensive experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management, application development, Middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multitier environment or significant experience in business analysis or business strategic planning
. Experience of public/private/hybrid cloud environments and design is desirable.
