Base Location: Flexible Scotland We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices across Scotland (Perth, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen).

Salary: £45,400 - £68,200 + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent Contract Full Time Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

SSEN Transmission, the owner and operator of the electricity transmission system in the north of Scotland, has a critical role to play in enabling the national energy transition and achievement of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets.

Developing effective strategy is critical for our business in an evolving landscape such as transition to a net zero energy system. In support of this, the Strategy Manager will play a key role in the engagement and implementation of strategy across the organisation through strategic planning, performance measurement, and promoting strategic thinking across the business.

Undertaking market assessments, identifying growth opportunities, and engaging stakeholders across the business to help inform the design, development, and implementation of the SSEN Transmission Strategy. Working under the direction of the Senior Strategy Manager, the Strategy Manager will promote long-term thinking, planning and horizon scanning within and across SSEN Transmission.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:

- Business Strategy. Supporting the development of SSEN Transmission's strategic projects, working with colleagues across the business to undertake policy development and effective advocacy to key external stakeholders including government, regulators, network users and consumers.

- Strategy Research and Analysis. Undertaking market and industry research, assessment and evaluation to inform and shape the design, development and implementation of SSEN Transmission strategy.

- Strategy Delivery. Translating defined strategy into actionable and quantifiable plans, designing and managing a delivery plan for strategy development and implementation.

- Stakeholder engagement. Identifying and engaging key stakeholders at all levels of seniority, working with these stakeholders to lead cross-business initiatives and deliver performance improvement projects.

- Growth opportunity identification. Assess the external landscape within which the business operates, highlighting trends, opportunities, and potential threats to our current operating model. Provide evidence base to undertake horizon scanning activities and explore approaches in response to emerging market factors.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A passion for the achievement of net zero targets and the strategic approaches needed to achieve this. Demonstrable understanding of the energy industry, key stakeholders, and the regulatory/policy landscape, gained from past experience as well as through social/professional networking.

- Expertise in business strategy development and practice. In-depth experience of applying methodical and organisational tools for strategy development such as competitor research, strength-weakness analysis, growth, option or scenario assessments, and future-looking insights.

- Strong communication skills, equally comfortable handling and analysing large quantities of data as well as developing compelling strategic narratives. Demonstrable ability to synthesise complex arguments and communicate the messages clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

- Provenability to operate outside of your area of expertise, for instance engaging with technical, regulatory, financial, and engineering specialists, to gather relevant information and progress work.

- Experience working with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, building strong cross-functional project teams, and managing multiple competing priorities.
