Strategy Manager

London (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is looking to recruit a strategy manager to join a newly created team here at QBE to support the Head of Executive Governance and Strategy, International on strategic projects. The new team will bring together strategic capability from across the International Division to facilitate corporate strategy development and ensure a coherent and coordinated approach. The team also coordinates International's ESG strategy, ensuring that Sustainability is embedded within business strategy, decision making and the QBE brand narrative. The role will work across both areas (Strategy and ESG)

The Strategy Manager is responsible for managing strategic projects and leading analysis to help QBE answer its most important strategic questions on its journey to become a stronger, simpler and more customer focused insurer. The role will work closely with the Head of Executive Governance and Strategy, the CEO of International, and the senior leadership team to define and drive the strategic direction of the International Division.

Your New Role

Strategy, Planning and ESG

  • Provide support in establishing a strategy development process for International - shaping and managing the process and ensuring a joined up approach across the business.

  • Establish framework to track and manage execution of the strategy

  • Help coordinate a multi-faceted strategy for ESG across International

  • Conduct Market, Industry and competitor analysis to provide insight to the senior leadership team

  • Identification and analysis of ESG trends and integration into corporate strategy

  • Undertake focused strategic reviews / deep dives on specific areas of the business

  • Support communication of the business strategy and ESG performance and progress across the Group, ensuring alignment between the business/ESG strategy and its consumer and corporate communications and marketing activities.

  • Understand and comply with relevant policies, regulation and standards.

  • Acts as an ambassador for the Strategy function, demonstrating a proactive, positive attitude

  • Builds strong, trusted relationships across the business.

  • Technical Performance.

About You

  • Strategy experience gained from either strategy consulting or inhouse strategy function in financial services.

  • Highly analytical with exceptional business analysis and problem-solving skills, with ability to reduce complexity and navigate ambiguity

  • Background knowledge and an interest in ESG matters including Climate Change, transition to Net Zero, social matters and governance.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment

  • Ability to build a strong network with colleagues across the business

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with ability to synthesise large amounts of complex data into clear, focused, easily digestible reports and presentations for Boards, Executive Committees and other senior audiences
