Our partnerships with global companies have paved the way for developing clean energy systems that revolutionize power generation, transportation, industry, and everyday living.Purpose of the role:As Trade Compliance & Logistics Specialist you will work across the organisation, supporting our domestic and international trade activity in collaboration with our supply chain and licensees. This role will require you to be an experienced and forward-thinking professional. Aspects of this role will be unusual and unique; not only because they are a licencing company but also because it works in a deeply collaborative way with its global partners.In this role you will support the Global Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager in all aspects of trade compliance and international logistics, focusing heavily on improving domestic shipping arrangements, as well as driving change management, through education and collaboration with cross functional business partners.
Key Accountabilities:
- Support both in inbound and outbound logistics, collaborating with suppliers, licensees, freight forwarders and carriers to arrange, expedite and complete deliveries
- Prepare shipping documents for domestic and international shipments and raise periodic blanket purchase orders with our preferred freight forwarders, advisors, and carriers Provide additional subject matter expertise on all aspects of trade compliance and logistics, including tariff interpretation and classification, valuation, clearance, and brokerage, import and export compliance, and preferential trade programs
- Communicate changes in customs legislation, international trade operations, new trade agreements, and other programs that may impact the business. Advise the business on operational changes required to respond to such changes with minimum impact
- Work with the Global Trade Compliance & Logistics Manager to ensure we remain compliant with all trade-related regulations and duties, and that company trade-related policies and procedures are being followed
- Respond to inquiries from HM Customs & Revenue and other third-party government agencies
- Support the maintenance of existing policies and processes, measuring performance against these through reporting and/or KPIs, suggesting and implementing improvements and changes, as appropriate
- Work closely with the wider Procurement & Supply Chain team to manage all international transportation activities through the supply chain, participating in the development of strategies and supply chain initiatives to ensure proper/advantageous structuring of global transactions
- Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to plan future warehouse capacity requirements in line with company growth objectives
- Assist in augmenting an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all relevant employees
- Monitor and maintain our Global Trade Compliance solutions and other internal and external systems and tools
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
- A good understanding of Customs and trade regulations in multiple countries within the EU, Japan, China and South Korean, including knowledge of Customs valuation, classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, preferential trade agreements
- Knowledge of conformity assessment requirements (COCs), specific exporter registration requirements and other types or import/export permits required to clear goods into and out of other geographies.
- Ability to represent the company to government/customs officials
- Degree qualified (in a complementary subject), ideally supported by a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role and membership of CILT (or working towards MILT or CMILT)
- A strong communicator with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders to influence cross-functional working
- Comfortable working in a team, under their own initiative, and on a range of projects at the same time
