Our client, a well-established family run transport company, specialising in UK Road Haulage, are seeking a Transport Manager to join their team based in central Northamptonshire.

This is a full-time permanent position with hybrid working options.

With the full support of the two company Directors, you will be given a great deal of autonomy to continue to help grow this family owned and well respected business.

They currently have a varied fleet from 7.5ton to 44ton artic vehicles and a great team of efficient and hardworking people, they are always committed to delivering a high level standard of service.

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinking individual with integrity and passion, self-motivated and posses excellent communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and leading a team of 8 vehicles and drivers
  • Coordinate the customers requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction whilst meeting contractual obligation
  • Maintain fleet and drivers legal compliance and processes relating to servicing, MOT's and repairs
  • Managing drivers hours, tacho, WTD and all obligations relating to the operating licence
  • Responsible for health and safety and coordination of associated activities
  • Responsible for bringing in new business and maximizing and maintaining existing clients
  • Continuous improvement in all areas including vehicle & driver utilisation and effectiveness
  • Route planning to maximise cost control for new and existing clients
  • Leading strategic projects for overall optimisation of your fleet
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting as required

Personal skills & qualifications:

  • Management experience within the UK Haulage / Transport industry
  • Transport Manager CPC qualified
  • IT literate
  • Experience with continuous improvement
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Experience with managing drivers
  • Demonstrate both a commercially and client focused operating style
  • Can adapt quickly to change and be proactive
