Gleeson Logistics are exclusively partnering with a National Manufacturing business in their search for a UK Customs Manager.
This role is responsible to ensure that all UK locations of the business are in full compliance with the import and export laws of the United Kingdom. Compliance with trade regulations will be achieved through a centralized process of classification, certification and verification of import/export activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all UK Operations are fully compliant with UK import and export rules & regulations.
- Manage a robust customs compliance program for all UK locations including completion of Audits and Self-Assessment Programs.
- Design and implement an ongoing training program on import/export awareness for UK personnel.
- Act as a key liaison with relevant agencies, customers and suppliers for customs compliance related matters.
- Effectively communicate and partner with UK locations to review new and existing product and non-product transactions to identify the most efficient and effective flow-paths and methods of moving material.
- Coordinate with the European and Global Trade Compliance teams to develop and maintain a company-wide import/export best practice.
- Conduct periodic formal assessments of the UK facilities of UK sites to ensure that policies and procedures are properly followed and that all activities and transactions are in compliance with the appropriate import/export laws.
- Report to Management on issues and opportunities and recommend solutions and project plans.
- Analyse processes and procedures for opportunities to eliminate waste, streamline for efficiency, and utilise emerging tools and technologies.
- Effectively coordinate and collaborate import/export resources across all UK locations to share best practices.
Essential Experience:
- Recognised qualification in Import / Export Management or relevant experience in a similar role.
- Intermediate working knowledge of computers and the use of software packages (Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with emphasis on Excel.
- Ideally, experience in managing and/or implementing an IPR or AEO authorisation.
- Up to date with latest customs legislation
