The UK Security Management team is a specialist function and is part of our wider Business Resilience team, responsible for the UK firm's physical security programme including protective security, electronic security systems (and associated technical physical security measures, processes, development and innovation) , travel security, security risk assessments, security related data ownership and analytics, incident monitoring and alerting as well as advice, guidance and physical security awareness programmes.

The team's mandate is to ensure our physical security controls meet or exceed the requirements o f, ISO 27001 , ISO 31030 , PwC UK Confidentiality and Privacy Policy, PwC Global Information Security Policy and PwC Global Network Standards, together with the minimum standards set by the British Security Industry Association, including but not limited to BS7499, BS7858 and BS7984.

We are looking for an experienced and credible security leader who has the knowledge and appropriate skills to define the overall security strategy and associated programmes and to oversee the tactical implementation and delivery of services. In addition the role requires the individual to be the subject matter expert on all aspects of physical security and be seen as a thought leader who can specify and deliver security solutions that support and enable rather than obstruct business.

The post holder will provide a proactive, yet pragmatic approach to the role. Sound judgement and decision making are key skills as the Security Lead is on occasions required to make important decisions at short notice and under difficult circumstances. From time to time (particularly during building evacuations and relating to life safety issues), decisions will have to be made without referral to senior leadership.

The role has leadership responsibility for a team of 150 individuals made up of PwC direct employees and outsourced service provider staff. The role has a number of direct reports at manager and potentially senior manager grades and will be responsible for the management of multiple 3rd party contracted services and external suppliers.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Business Resilience, you will be responsible for ensuring that the physical security programmes meet the changing needs of the business and provide a safe, secure working environment for all partners, staff, third party employees and client visitors working in our offices or travelling on PwC business, as well as deploying security measures to protect the firm's property, assets, information and reputation from theft, accidental damage or impairment from criminal, hostile or malicious activity. This will include:
  • Responsible for the Physical Security Policy, Strategy and implementation of the associated security programmes
  • Leadership, direction, development and motivation across a large team (150)
  • Act as Incident Coordinator when required to support the Business Continuity and Incident Management plans
  • Setting, forecasting and delivering the overall security budget, up to £7m
  • Developing project requirements and delivering projects/security elements within wider projects across multiple disciplines (tech, real estate, transformation) and managing project budgets (£1m+)
  • Actively participate in meetings with Global security and Regional Security Directors from other member firms to offer insights, knowledge and best practice to support the implementation of the Global Physical Security Network Standards across the member firms
  • Operate as the UK SME, and contribute to the wider PwC Network for all aspects of physical security systems, including technology, management and insight.
  • Chair monthly, quarterly and annual service review/governance meetings with suppliers and various internal stakeholders
  • Contract management, including specification of service, governance, adherence to Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensuring accuracy, suitability and quality of all reports
  • Providing physical security briefing sessions and awareness programmes
  • Overseeing the Firm's physical security systems and associated physical security technologies in alignment with the Firm's overall physical security strategy, leveraging technology to evolve and develop these strategies, processes and policies where possible.
  • Building innovation and efficiency throughout the Security and Business Resilience areas by leveraging the power of data and technology and leading a team of technologists to deliver agile and innovative solutions
  • Oversee the programme of the UK Firm's liaison with local law enforcement agencies, including Police forces, particularly Counter Terrorist Security Advisors (CTSA) and Crime Prevention and direct how local information is driven back into the Firm
  • Liaison with close protection teams for VIP visitors (including Gov. Ministers and members of the Royal Family)
  • Investigation and reporting of security incidents. Where such investigations involve partners or staff, confidentiality and discretion along with sound knowledge of relevant laws (including GDPR).


Essential skills & experience
  • Demonstrable leadership experience in Physical Security programmes, including defining the strategic priorities, setting up of contracts (service specification, service level agreements and key performance indicators), project development and management
  • Experienced contract manager ensuring service providers are delivering exceptional services and adding value
  • Good knowledge of ISO 27001 and ISO 31030 standards
  • Recognised security qualifications and/or subject matter expertise CPP, PSP, CSyP or equivalent
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of overseas security provision for High and Extreme risk locations
  • Collaborative, able to contribute to the strategic direction of the Physical Security programmes across the global network of firms
  • Experience in introducing best practice and delivering change - able to plan ahead and anticipate threats/risk/trends and operate across policy and technology to drive innovative and deliver optimal solutions
  • Motivated and goal oriented - able to identify opportunity and take the initiative to strengthen resilience, transform security services and simplify processes
  • Clear and accurate communicator - both in spoken and written communications
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of a large, professional services organisation, the various cross territory inter-dependencies and how security related threats/risks can impact business performance and brand reputation
